Situated not far from the center of Lucca, this primary / secondary school in Italy is a simple public device for an ordinary peripheral neighborhood.
This complex consists of two main buildings (school and gymnasium) and two small public pavilions (theatre, kiosk).
Each classroom is facing a small private garden which is protecting the interiors from noise and direct sun. This matrix of classrooms is designed in order to host different types of didactic activities between classes.
These new buildings are defining a central space for the community where a school is no more a disconnected learning center but a new public system open to the small community of this part of the city.
